Our vision is a future where we don’t need to think about this issue any more. Not a world full of perfect “eco-warriors” but one that is based on a clean and sustainable system that allows us to live the lives we want without destroying our home.
Our content is trying to get across 4 key points:
We must succeed - given the science and the situation, we must stabilise global temperatures at a level that is manageable long term. Based on scientific advice we should be aiming for as close to 1.5 degrees of warming as possible. Why care?... because we all have a vested interest in the outcome.
The solution (at a high level) is simple - we should do everything we reasonably can to reduce emissions and increase drawdowns of greenhouse gases, from as many angles as possible and make this a priority. If enough people apply the right mindset, we will get there.
We all have a part to play - particularly in creating the political pressure we need for governments to make a number of key changes.
There is a Human Element to this problem - human behaviour and psychology play an important role in the decisions we make. We need to recognise it, attempt to understand it and look to consciously combat any issues.
A brief summary of our material is laid out below:
An Introduction: what we hope to achieve and how we plan to get there.
The Problem: why the key changes need to be driven at a government level and why engagement from the general public is so vital in making that happen.
Issues with the Message and The Human Element: understanding why engagement has been poor historically can help us to improve it going forward.
What You Can Do (The EPIC Model): how we should approach sustainability and the things you can practically do to make a difference.
What’s the Situation?: it is in our best interest to face an inconvenient truth, make informed decisions, take action and get this right.
What’s the Solution?: it is simple and we all have a part to play (and we don't need to become “eco warriors”).
The Science: A summary of the science around climate change, sticking to the things we can be sure of (including all the key terms and how they are related).
Hope & Belief: we are going to get there and we are all capable of making an impact.
